I pray this year be one of great sailing, engaging conversations, spiritual challenges and growth, and as Karen so wonderfully puts it - total immersion in the 'obscenely thorough friendship' that is so unique to the boats and salts. It will be a year spent traveling through some amazing places, with endless opportunities to connect with intriguing people, and I'm excited. (Perhaps we'll squeeze in some diving and climbing in as well...).
My bunk will be crammed with books, dive/climbing gear, sunscreen (of course...story of my life), photos, and M&M's. Werthers are of course a must, and I have now sufficiently recovered from the embarrassment of having to purchase a years supply of deodorant. With departure getting closer and closer (four days!), and the process of packing seeming more and more intimidating, excitement is kicking in.The past week and a half has been spent at the shipyard, helping getting the boat ready for Sunday. The hull is now spectacular, I am adequately burnt, and I have acquired quite a nice spattering of red and black Tremclad over my face and arms. I also succeeded - to my great satisfaction - in putting a rather brilliant red handprint, in paint, on Becca's pants.
Anyways, leave messages (or even better, send real mail!), and I wish everyone a fabulous year. If you want to see details on the route we'll be taking, visit the salts site (salts.ca). Ill be keeping in touch, so keep checking in :)
